In rural France where older people are not tech savvy they still rely on the local newspaper for the news, particularly death notices!
To economise neighbours often share a subscription, reading the paper, putting it back in it’s wrapper and passing it on.
Here, it having just been delivered by the post lady, Albert is reading the day’s edition. His brother-in-law Serge has joined him on the village bench outside Albert’s house and is impatient to read as well.
I have spent summers here over many years and know these villagers. I drove past them, saw the scene then quickly parked and crept back on the other side of the road and was delighted to find their positions unchanged. I composed it to included Serge’s drying T shirt and took it on my Apple iPhone 6.
